Why You Shouldn't Drop French Class

Okay, so as soon as school started, like one or two people in my class dropped it. I didn't understand why they would ever want to do that! Here are some Pros and Cons of learning French:

  1. French is just plain classy. It just is! French is the most romantic language in the world and no other language can match it's beauty and preciseness.
  2. Hardly anyone takes this course. Everyone will usually choose Spanish over French - at least the majority will. So French classes are usually pretty small.
  3. You can easily tell if some one's speaking French, whereas with Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian etc. it is harder to tell what language they are actually speaking for the first minute or so.
  4. Learning a foreign language and having the chance to be bilingual will open up a lot more job and travel related jobs for you. When you have this on your college applications they will think of you as well-rounded and you will stand out from the crowd.
  5. Even knowing just a few words in French will make you look amazing. You can say ANYTHING, "I like to roll around in dog poop." (J'aime rouler dans merde de chien), for instance, and you will sound stunning.
The French language is just beautiful. Don't, however, study French if you have no interest in it or it's culture. You will get terrible grades if you have no passion to learn it. I marched to the beat of my own drum and took the class because I have always been interested in France - The French Revolution, Marie Antoinette, Versailles, etc.

You should really study French. I think you'll enjoy it.

Au revoir,
Mad
